Hi I’m Meg, the designer-maker behind C&M Ceramics.
What I make in the studio is all about bringing joy and celebration into our everyday rituals. Whether it is through activating your tablescape with color and pattern or commemorating a favorite outdoor experience over a morning cup of coffee. I like to start each piece with a handmade promise, finding inspiration in vibrant hues as well as natural landscapes and fine tuning each detail to best design for durability and function. Through C&M I create collections and beautiful everyday objects that transcend our busy lifestyle and encourage play, reflection, and ritual.
Through C&M I celebrate my love of color, pattern, and the beauty of the great outdoors.
Handmade Production
Every C&M product is handmade -- being a small handmade ceramics studio means being involved in every aspect of the making process. Whether I am slip casting, jiggering, slab building or throwing on the wheel, every bit of clay passes through my hands. This gives me the opportunity to fine tune each piece and create a well considered beautiful product.
Let’s talk about how its made:
I use a buttery soft (yet fully vitrified) porcelain clay for most of my the wheel thrown and slip cast work. Certain custom collections may utilize a dark or iron rich clay body, but the signature collection is all porcelain.
All of my slip cast vessels are made by hand with the greatest attention to detail and finishing. Every mold is also made by hand in my studio in Maine, working off of my own unique often wheel thrown prototypes.
Each piece is then decorated by hand and glazed with a durable, non-leaching, food safe glaze.
Custom work and collaborations:
A big part of C&M is the custom work that I create for restaurants and other creative businesses. These collaborations allow for constant innovation and growth, as the possibilities within clay are seemingly infinite.
